Erum Kistemaker, managing partner of Kistemaker Business Law Group, was recently featured in the Daytona Beach News-Journal for her selection into the prestigious 2017 Florida Super Lawyers list for the second year in a row.

Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

Kistemaker Business Law Group Welcomes Summer Intern

Kistemaker Business Law Group welcomes a summer intern.

Michael Tydir is a proud local, born and raised in Daytona Beach.

He attends the Emory University School of Law where he focuses his studies on transactional and real estate matters.

Michael received a B.S.B.A. in Finance and Business Economics, cum laude, from the University of Central Florida in 2015. He has also worked as a financial analyst for Global 500 Siemens and Fortune 500 BNY Mellon.

Kistemaker Joins Pine Trail Elementary School Advisory Council

Congratulations to our Erum who has been named to the Pine Trail Elementary School Advisory Council (SAC). 

This council assists in making recommendations on how the school operates. SAC membership is comprised of elected parents, staff, and business community officials. By law, every school in Florida must have an SAC.

This council consists of teachers, support personnel, parents, and community members. Fifty-one percent (51%) of the council must be parents and/or community members not employed by the school district.

Erum Kistemaker Named President of VFAWL Board

Kistemaker Business Law Group is pleased to announce managing partner and attorney Erum Kistemaker has been

installed as president of the Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers (VFAWL) board of directors.

“It is an honor to continue serving on the VFAWL board as board president for 2017-18,” said Kistemaker. “I am excited for the year ahead and all it has to in store for our organization.”

The installation, which was conducted by Volusia County Court Judge Belle B. Schumann, took place at the June 8 VFAWL’s Woman of the Year luncheon at the Halifax River Yacht Club in Daytona Beach.

VFAWL will also be presenting its Woman of the Year Award to Kelly Chanfrau a

nd its Distinguished Service Award to Kathie Selover.

The Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers is a chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL).  FAWL was formed on June 30, 1951. A Constitution and bylaws were adopted on June 7, 1952.  In 1980, the membership voted to amend the bylaws to provide for local chapters of the association.

Earlier this year, Kistemaker was named to FAWL’s Fast Track subcommittee, works to vet endorsement requests of bills filed, or to be filed, in the Florida Legislature by individuals or organizations other than FAWL, or other initiatives, rules, or positions directly impacting FAWL’s mission.

VFAWL was formed on March 21, 1995 with mission to promote the advancement of women in the legal profession, expand the leadership role of its members in the community at large, further the common interest of its members and to encourage camaraderie among its members and other professional women in Volusia and Flagler Counties.

VFAWL holds a luncheon on the second Thursday of each month at Halifax River Yacht Club.  In addition, VFAWL has regular social events and community service opportunities.

Erum Kistemaker Purchases Ormond Beach Office Building with Two Local Partners

Erum Kistemaker, managing partner of Kistemaker Business Law Group, is pleased announce she has purchased a commercial office building in Ormond Beach.

Kistemaker owns the building, located at 120 East Granada Blvd., along with partners, Tyra Wilson Roberson, of TW Realty, and Ormond Beach attorney Will Akers III. She will relocate Kistemaker Business Law Group to the new location June 1, following several weeks of interior renovations.

In addition to Kistemaker’s law firm, the 8,000-square foot business/professional center will house four attorneys, an accountant, a property manager and a realtor. There is currently additional space available for lease.

“I feel blessed and excited to share this new endeavor Tyra and Will, who are not just the best realtor/property manager and attorney around, but also the best partners,” said Kistemaker. “There are big and exciting changes coming for all of us – and, we are all thrilled to be working beachside.”

Kistemaker was recognized for her recent appointment to The Florida Association of Women Lawyers’ (FAWL) new Fast Track subcommittee.

The organization has seen a recent increase in requests to endorse various pieces of legislation, and so this subcommittee will work to vet these endorsement requests of bills filed, or to be filed, in the Florida Legislature by individuals or organizations other than FAWL, or other initiatives, rules, or positions directly impacting FAWL’s mission.

Kistemaker and her fellow subcommittee members will adopt a new streamlined process for fast-track consideration of these requests for endorsements and present the requests to the board in between board meetings.

 

Kistemaker Business Law Group Named to Book of Lists

Erum Kistemaker, managing partner at Kistemaker Business Law Group, is pleased the firm was named to the Daytona Beach News-Journal‘s  2016 Book of Lists in its Volusia/Flagler Business Report

According to the list, Kistemaker Business Law Group is ranked the 18th largest law firm in Volusia/Flagler counties.

According to the News-Journal, the 2016 Book of Lists is a ‘compilation of the industry-sector reference lists that have been published in the Business Report over the past year, plus a couple of lists compiled specifically for the issue.”

The goal of the book is to ‘provide valuable data in a single edition that can give readers a useful overview of the economy in Volusia and Flagler counties.”

The Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL) has appointed Erum Kistemaker, managing partner and attorney at Kistemaker Business Law Group, to its new Fast Track subcommittee.

Last year, the FAWL  named Erum Kistemaker to its 2016 class of Leaders in the Law.

For this award, FAWL solicited chapter nominations of women who had earned the respect of others professionally, been involved in activities for the betterment of the local community, exemplified the qualities of a positive role model, and advanced the cause of women in the community.
